We're still going strong on our fiber arts! I was quite pleased to try out crocheting directly onto flip flop soles. What a satisfying project to whip up your own footwear...I feel so capable!

I really enjoyed the challenge of shaping and really liked that this project in particular was one skein of yarn per boot. Aside from the time it takes to learn new techniques and find an even tension, these sweater boots worked up quickly. It was quite a satisfying project, and I'm really looking forward to making more pairs of flip flop crocheted shoes in other styles. The kids already have requests too :o) These were a pattern for sweater boots to wear as indoor slippers that I found at Make & Do Crew (makeanddocrew.com). It was a free pattern with several YouTube tutorial videos, and I have realized just how immensely helpful video tutorials are.

The weather has warmed up just a few degrees here in western Colorado, and we've even pulled out our bikes and taken a couple rides to the library and the river front trail. Down by the river there are wonderful amenities that have been added over the last year. One upgrade by the river is a bike playground. We had a nice time this morning taking runs on the kids BMX style bikes (no pics of me and Darren, but we both took turns too!).

We also have signs of spring in the yard! The spring flower bulbs Walter and I planted last fall are starting to come up and it is making my heart happy to think of our yard in bloom.

As far as school at home goes, we are reading a great book my mom sent us that she taught me and my siblings from when we homeschooled, "Whatever Happened to Justice?" by Richard J. Maybury. It is an amazing book and as an adult I am thanking my mom for using some really great books as curriculum during our years learning at home. In previous years I hadn't appreciated the home education I had growing up, but now as I reread these books I see what gems of knowledge my mom gave us. Thanks, Mom!! <3

One last pic to share. This just gave me a chuckle on a walk I went on last week...black cats lives matter too !
